Plastic Surgery Costs: Average Costs for Plastic Surgery Procedures

Plastic surgery costs can vary depending on the surgeon, geographical region, operating room fees, materials (implants, threads, etc) and what type of anesthesia is used. However, there are average prices culled from plastic surgery practices from across the country. Keep reading to find out what they are.

Botox Injections

While Botox is not technically a surgical procedure, it is the most popular cosmetic procedure in the United States today. The national average for a standard session of Botox injections is $430, with each unit of Botox ranging in price from $9 to $15. The total cost depends on your practitioner's injection fees and the total area covered.

Abdominoplasty

Commonly known as a “tummy tuck,” abdominoplasty procedures are popular with post-pregnancy women and individuals who have lost a significant amount of weight, but not the extra skin associated with their original weight gain. The average fee charged for both partial and full abdominoplasty procedures is between $6000 and $8000.  When calculating the cost of a tummy tuck, you should also consider the possibility of losing 4 weeks of work to recovery time.

Breast Augmentation

The plastic surgery costs of breast augmentation or implants can depend on the type of implant used and whether the implant is placed under or over the pectoral muscle. For example, a pair of silicone implants placed under the muscle typically costs around $8000 while a set of saline implants inserted over the muscle may only cost as little as $5000.

Face Lift

The average cost of face lifts falls between $7000 and $9000, but can depend on the type of face lift done and the complexity of the surgery itself. Like an abdominoplasty, the recovery time for a face lift can be extensive. Most patients don't return to work for at least a month.

Rhinoplasty

Also known as a “nose job,” rhinoplasty plastic surgery costs an average of $5000 to $6000 in the United States. If your nose is broken in the procedure, you may not see the final, completely unbruised result until as long as 6 months after the original surgery.
